Artistic Concept & Creative Curatorship

Dr. Hung Keung is an internationally renowned digital media artist, researcher, scholar and designer. He graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s Swire School of Design, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design (Britain) with an MA in Film and Video, and received his PhD from the Planetary Collegium, Zurich University of the Arts (Switzerland) and University of Plymouth (Britain).

His creative practice involves a wide range of media, including interactive performance, moving image, photography, experimental ink painting, installation, writing and more. In 2005, he founded “imhk lab”, a research laboratory that focuses on new media art and design practice relating to Chinese philosophy and interactivity.

Hung is the first Chinese artist to have received the Special Mention Interactive CD-ROM Award from e-phos, the International Festival of Film & New Media on Art in Athens (2001), and the Special Award for New Media in Croatia (2002). Among his many accolades are the BBC British Film Festival’s Best Short Ambient Video Award (1998), the Best of EMAF at the European Media Art Festival (1998), the Hong Kong Arts Development Council's Award for Best Artist (Media Arts, 2010), the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial’s Achievement Award (2009), and Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition's Prize of Excellence (2001).

Choreographer

An independent Hong Kong dance artist and winner of the 2015 Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist (Dance), Tsui is interested in exploring public spaces through her body and sharing her imagination with different communities.

Ching Chu

Dancer

Chu is currently receiving full-time contemporary dance training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. After graduation from the Fine Arts Department, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016, her constant reflection cemented her belief that human body is the most universal and earnest medium of art.

Since 2018, Chu has devoted herself to contemporary dance. In particular, she is interested in interdisciplinary performative collaborations and research in dance, visual art, music and theatre.

Recent creative engagements include: Unhinged, part of The Gong Strikes One’s online project of Hong Kong Music Miniatures (as choreographer and performer); The City on the Sands of Time for Alice Theatre Laboratory’s Project on Exploring the Expressionist Theatre (as devising performer); Art Voyagers 2020 for Passoverdance’s youth dance education programme (as student choreographer); and her solo work Retrieval (as choreographer and performer).

Felix Lok

Live Musician / Performer

A world music enthusiast and cross-media theatre artist, Lok founded in 2015 the world music duo “Coelacanth” and began to throw himself into creating scenic music for theatrical plays. Over the years, through his participation in different forms of performances, he has built a strong sense of improvisation and a highly interactive performing style. In September 2019, he created and performed in his first cross-media improvisational production, making use of sound, movement, puppetry and costume.

Li Tuokun

Choreographer / Performer

After graduation from the Guangzhou Arts School in 2010, Li received full scholarship to study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Dance in 2014. Upon graduation, he represented the HKAPA to exchange and perform in Vienna and São Paulo.

In 2016, Li joined the Hong Kong Dance Company and appeared in Storm Clouds, Chinese Hero: A Lone ExileThe Legend of Mulan and more, before playing the principal role in Dance Drama Hong Kong’s epic production, Di Zi Gui. In 2018, he performed in Daniel Yeung’s Guan Yu's Ride of 1,000 Miles; in 2019, he co-choreographed Legend of Hao Hao with Yang Hao; and later in 2020, he choreographed for Macau Onsite Festival STRUCK, which was later videoedand screened atHKartsFestival@TaiKwun.

Li is now an independent dancer, martial art researcher and guest lecturer at the HKAPA.

KT Yau

Choreographer / Performer

Yau graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art (Hons) majoring in Contemporary Dance. From 2013 to 2014 she was a dancer at the Y-space Dance Company, before furthering her studies in Israel in 2016. She is currently Resident Choreographer at the Unlock Dancing Plaza.

In 2018, Yau received the Award for Young Artist (Dance) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, and the Emerging Choreographer Award at the Hong Kong Dance Awards. As a dancer, she has collaborated with a variety of renowned companies and artists. Recently she has devoted herself to creating and her works have been presented in Sweden, Japan, Singapore, Guangzhou and Shanghai, etc. Her choreographic works include Unmixed, Confine, Remain Invisible and Stubborn...ing.

KT Yau

Poon Tai-ming

Performer

Poon graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science. He then completed another Bachelor’s degree in Acting with honours at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2018. As a student, he received the Outstanding Actor Award and multiple scholarships, including the Chung Pu Memorial Scholarships, Janice WKK Choi Talents Scholarships and the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund. He was also one of the school representatives for performance exchange in Austria and South Korea.

Recent performances include: A Winter Funeral, A Dream Like a Dream and Principle by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre; Where love abides in the “See You Soon” series by Project Roundabout; Aquamarine and Fallen by Theatre Ronin; Last Time at the 8th Homesick Mime Festival; No Man is An Island, GoodTimes, BestFriend and Dustykid on stage 2.0 by Trinity Theatre.
