Choi Sai-ho

Concept / Composition / Creative Director / Producer

Choi graduated with a MFA in Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. He received the Award for Young Artist (Media Arts) at Hong Kong Arts Development Awards in 2012. His credit in Hong Kong Dance Company’s Storm Clouds won him Outstanding Achievement in Music for Dance at Hong Kong Dance Awards in 2015. His work Collide won accolades at the Visual Music Award — Visual Music Live Contest 2016 in Germany. He was the first Hong Kong representative to join the Red Bull Music Academy. He was named by Time Out Hong Kong magazine as one of Hong Kong’s top 20 musicians and Best of Hong Kong Indie Number 1. He also appeared in CNNGo’s list of the best 10 Hong Kong bands. Choi has performed at numerous international music festivals, including Electron Festival (Genève), Worldtronics (Berlin), Experimentica (Cardiff) and Clockenflap (Hong Kong).

His recent works include: audio-visual work Freezing Night.Tram Depot, commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2014 and longlisted for Lumen Prize 2018 (Moving Image) in the UK; music piece Signals, selected by the Spanish electronic and experimental music Sónar Festival to transmit to the exoplanet GJ273b in 2018; music video Black Moon, exhibited in the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco (US) from 2021 to mid-2022; audio-visual artwork MART, commissioned by Tai Kwun and has been exhibited online since 2021; and animated installation Flower in the Mirror, with sound design by Choi, commissioned by M+ museum and has been exhibited since its opening in November 2021.

Graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Tsang has worked as production manager and technical director in various theatre companies and major events. She joined ONEvent Productions Limited as project director in 2020.

Visuals

Lam is a media artist who graduated from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. His works focus on interactive technology and generative imagery, often reflecting on the society. Such works include: Pavilion for Our Living, Pavilion for Our Harbour, Countdown Machine and Add Oil Machine.

Kongkee

Visuals

Kongkee is an animation director and comics artist based in Hong Kong. He founded Penguin Lab in 2008. In 2015, in collaboration with Britpop band Blur, he created his comic book Travel to Hong Kong with Blur for the band’s album The Magic Whip, which became a big hit in the scene. His another comic book Detournements: La littérature de Hong Kong en bande dessinée (with Chihoi) also won worldwide acclaim in the international literary arts circle. His original comic and animation short Dragon’s Delusion: Preface won Grand Prize at the 22nd DigiCon6 Asia Awards by Japan TBS channel in 2020. Flower in the Mirror, his most recent animation-video installation commissioned by M+ museum as the opening programme, has been exhibited since November 2021.

Vocals

Tsang is a member of the bands Modern Children and Club Fiasco. He has worked with Choi Sai-ho multiple times, responsible for vocals in Map Dealers and Space Between Us, as well as the live percussion performance in Black Moon.

Vocals

Wong graduated from the Central Saint Martins College in London with a BA (first-class honours) in Stage Design and Directing. He subsequently founded the theatre fashion label Daydream Nation with his sister Kay. Having joined People Mountain People Sea in 2010 and Frenzi Music in 2017, he has released 6 albums. He has been invited to perform at OzAsia Festival in Adelaide and Zandari Festa in Seoul, and has toured as a solo performer in more than 30 cities. His songs have been used as interludes in films directed by Heiward Mak and Ann Hui. In 2018, he staged A Spy in the House of Love, a self-directed musical monologue, at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. In 2021, he presented his tap dance musical theatre performance, The Drifters, in the Studio Theatre of Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD at City University of Hong Kong, researching immersive interactive theatre.

Recitation

Independent music composer xxtilldawn graduated from the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong in 2018. Always bursting with musical ideas, she sees her music as an art medium sets out to challenge the convention of popular music. She released her first work in 2019. To her, music composition is a magnificent adventure full of uncertainties. Composer, arranger, lyricist and singer all at once, xxtilldawn strives to bring alternative sounds to Cantopop which she hopes the audience will enjoy. Her music style is mostly alternative electronic featuring unique arrangements incorporating her sometimes-joyful-sometimes-miserable voice to present the imageries of the songs.

Mick Yip

Technical Director

Multimedia creator Yip graduated from the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong in 2002 as the school’s first graduates. He won a scholarship to study 3D animation and visual effects at New York University. Upon graduation, he was involved in advertising and brand building in Shanghai and Hong Kong. An industry veteran, he has created unique brand experiences for his clients and business partners, including international brands, developers as well as well-known creators and artistes. He is currently a partner of Jervois X Limited. Yip is an active player in the local multimedia theatre and art scenes with diversified roles — film and video director, experimental theatre director, performance director, theatre video designer and technical adviser for multimedia devices. In recent years, he has worked with a number of local artists and cultural organisations, as well as created works as a solo artist.

Anthony Yeung

Sound Designer

Yeung graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). He started teaching at the HKAPA from 2004 and has been an advisor for Soundpocket since 2008. In 2010, he was appointed as sound consultant for Dolby Laboratories. His recent theatre productions include: Myth of the Dancing Durumi and Nine Songs by Hong Kong Dance Company; Pa | Ethos, Dancing Philosophy and Luck-quacka by City Contemporary Dance Company; Shakespeare in Our Time: King Lear and Scenes from a Marriage by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio; Nocturnes by Hong Kong Contemporary Music; Menú del día by The Up:Strike Project; To Someone Alike by Count-in Music; Pride and Prejudice and All My Life I Shall Remember by Chung Ying Theatre Company. Yeung was awarded Best Sound Design for Little Shop of Horrors in the 12th Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2017, he received Outstanding Sound Design for Reveries of the Red Chamber in the 19th Hong Kong Dance Awards.

Graphic Designer

Chan is the creative director and brand consultant of On Your Mark Design Laboratory, full member of Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) and honorary president of University of the Arts London Hong Kong Alumni Association. Chan graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins and a MA in Typographic Studies from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. His illustrations, installations and video works have been exhibited at numerous international arts fairs across Europe and Asia. Chan was twice selected as one of the “40 under 40” young designers in Asia by Perspective Magazine in 2009 and 2016. In 2004, Chan founded On Your Mark Design Laboratory, a company understands materials, continues to study human behaviours, as well as opens new possibilities in design. The company has received more than 50 design awards over Hong Kong and worldwide.
